Motability cars are available on a scheme that helps disabled people to have access to their own transport and is funded by exchanging Government Mobility Allowance to cover the cost of leasing a new car. Even if you can't or don’t want to drive yourself the scheme allows you to lease a car and then nominate up to two people to drive for you.
Benefits Of Ford Motability Cars
The Motability scheme includes insurance, servicing, maintenance, breakdown cover and road tax so many of the basic costs of running a car are taken care of, though you will be responsible for fuel and other consumables such as oil and screen wash fluid. You will also be liable for insurance claims and parking or speeding fines too, so please drive carefully! There is however a mileage limit of 60,000 miles over the three-year lease period with an excess charge of 5p for every additional mile.
If required you can also get adaptations made to a vehicle including hand controls, steering aids and pedal modifications, most of which are free of charge under the scheme. Wheelchair users are also provided for and specially adapted vehicles are offered on a five-year lease, with a total mileage limit of 100,000 miles.
